Many of us were hoping for juicy news to drop during today’s Disney Investor conference call, and CEO Bob Iger didn’t disappoint. The chairman and CEO announced a new live-action Cassian Andor series coming to the direct-to-consumer streaming service next year. The Star Wars official site carried the announcement just moments ago.

The series, which will go into production next year, follows the adventures of rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

This new drama looks to bring the espionage thrill-seeking that we all love, with an era of Star Wars that’s familiar. The happiest moment of this announcement for me is the return of Diego Luna and his reprising of the role of Cassian Andor. His performance in Star Wars: Rogue One, was memorable and I for one am eager to see the Mexican actor on screen running around in our Galaxy once more. Apparently, so is he.

“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” said Luna. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

The Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming service is shaping up to be a must-have for Star Wars fans.
